What is VETDSS?
Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides secondary school students with an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification that contributes to Year 11 and 12 results. These programs are delivered by trainers with expert knowledge in the field and increase students’ employability skills.
Allowing students to work towards qualifications for all types of employment, and gain sector-specific skills to help them in the workplace.
Undertaking VET while at school gives students the opportunity to mix general and vocational education preparing them for a career before they leave school.
Students will gain practical skills in a specific industry while contributing towards the completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), including the VCE Vocational Major.
Students can also study VET through school-based apprenticeships or traineeships (SBATs) or part-time apprenticeships and traineeships. In government schools, all SBATs are supported by the Head Start program.
Student Experience
Cire Training strives to provide a warm and inviting classroom environment so students can feel safe, included and ready to learn. Students have described Cire classes as feeling like a “family” and something they look forward to waking up for in the morning.
Students attending Cire Training are treated as individuals, not just a number, and are offered support and flexibility to achieve their best. Students have described their trainers as friendly, supportive, knowledgeable and thorough.
Student experience surveys and pulse checks are administered regularly throughout the year to ensure that students have a voice and their needs/concerns are being met.
Education Support
Cire Training provides flexible learning options to cater to students with additional needs. Cire Training will work closely with each student’s secondary school to ensure that their learning experience is positive and fulfilling.
In accordance with the Disability Standards for Education 2005, Cire Training provides ‘reasonable adjustments’ to accommodate students with disabilities. Our training team will consult with students and their families/guardians to provide the most suitable assistance.
